Health Services

Mental (Behavioral) Health

Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.

Mental health and substance misuse conditions can affect anyone; you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.

If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at 988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.

19th Medical Group Mental (Behavioral) Health Services

Our facility offers the following mental health services:
  • One-time specialty duty evaluations
  • Crisis evaluation and support
  • Group therapy for emotion management, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health disorders
  • Individual therapy
To access care, members may call the Mental Health Clinic directly or walk up to the front desk to request an appointment. Individuals will meet with a technician, who will assist the service member with accessing the appropriate mental health resource. There are several mental resources available to suit your needs. Please see the “We Care” Guide, specific to Little Rock AFB, that allows you to connect with your choice of provider and services: https://www.littlerock.af.mil/Home/Comprehensive-Airman-Fitness/We-Care/

The Mental Health Flight provides services in three clinics offering prevention, assessment, and intervention, with the goal of ensuring Airmen can meet duty requirements. The Mental Health clinic matches individuals seeking care to the appropriate support, whether it is a behavioral health care provider or connecting them to non-medical support, such as Military and Family Life Counselors, chaplains, Military OneSource, or Primary Care Behavioral Health counselors (when available). Those individuals who are vectored into Mental Health may attend an evidence-based, skill-building group that meets their needs as this is the most efficient and effective way to get patients the care they need and back to optimal functioning. Individual therapy at the Mental Health clinic remains an option.

Same-day services are available for members in extreme distress, including those who are showing suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic ideations. Commanders may request a mental health assessment if there are concerns for a member’s safety or degradation of duty performance due to a potential mental health condition.

To promote readiness, health, and wellness, ADAPT provides comprehensive services, in coordination with their commanders, to individuals who are experiencing problems attributed to substance abuse or misuse. ADAPT provides service for all active duty service members with alcohol or drug problems. The ADAPT staff is available for presenting information and participating in outreach activities upon request. The three methods of referral are self-identification, commander’s identification, and medical referral.
