Radiology

The radiology department provides a wide selection of routine radiology, dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) (bone density), and ultrasounds exams. All X-ray and bone density exams are performed on a walk-in basis, while ultrasound exams typically require an appointment. In certain circumstances, ultrasounds can be performed same-day depending on the technician’s schedule and prior coordination from your provider. We accommodate TRICARE beneficiaries assigned to the facility of all ages from newborns to the elderly. For your convenience we can pull prior exams from other bases for comparison or if the exam is needed for an off-base appointment. Upon completion of the exam, the images are sent electronically to the USAF Academy for interpretation. Following interpretation of the exam an electronic report is transmitted back to our providers for them to view. This process can take up to 3 business days. Diagnostic imaging personnel are not authorized to discuss what is seen on exams or release exam results to patients. Please reach out to your primary care manager for results. Results may also be obtained online through TRICARE online approximately 7 business days following your exam. Diagnostic imaging orders from civilian providers are welcome. Patients wishing to have exams performed for their civilian doctor may do so provided they have a signed script from the doctor. All scripts must have the exam needed with a correlating history (for example, right knee X-ray, pain and tenderness following fall 5 days ago), and valid phone and fax numbers. Results will be faxed to off-base providers after they have been interpreted by a radiologist. At this time we do not accept prescriptions from chiropractic clinics. Please consult with your primary care manager prior to coming to the radiology clinic if you have a script from a chiropractor.
